Collect and organise your documents (V5)

You have to collect and organise information as possible to support your visitor visa application. if your documents are not in english you must translate to english by help of approved translators.

Australian visa officers may take visa decsion without requesting further documents or information from you, so its important to fill all inforamtion aqurate with all supportive documents to understand your file.

Identity documents

Submit your current passport showing your photo, personal details and passport issue and expiry dates. if you have old passport better submit that too if it showing any previous travel history .

Also provide:

  • a national identity document ( if you have )
  • proof of change of name, if applicable, such as:

documents that show other names you have been known by.

a marriage or divorce certificate

change of name documents from an Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, or the relevant overseas authority

documents that show other names you have been known by.

Genuine visitor documents

Provide as much proof as you can to show you are visiting Australia as a temporary, genuine visitor:

  • proof you have enough money for your stay and to leave Australia, such as personal bank statements, pay slips, audited accounts, tax records or credit card limit.
  • evidence of financial dependency to someone travelling with you if you are aged 18 or older
  • a letter from your relative or friend in Australia, inviting you to visit. The relative or friend must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. The letter needs to state:
    • their relationship to you
    • the purpose of your visit and length of stay
    • if you will be staying with them
    If this person will be paying for your stay, provide proof of their funds.
  • your plans while in Australia

Proof that you have reasons to return home:

  • a letter from your employer stating you plan to return to your job
  • proof that you study at a school, college or university back home
  • proof that you have immediate family members back home
  • proof that you can return home
  • proof that you own a house or other major assets back home

Business visitor documents

Tell us what business visitor activities you plan to do in Australia. You could provide:

  • an invitation from a host organisation
  • conference registration details
  • a letter from your employer stating why you are visiting
  • your plans for your stay and details of your Australian business contacts
  • proof of your current employment and professional qualifications
  • evidence your company is an active business, such as an annual report
  • evidence of prior contact with Australian businesses

Character documents

Provide any military service record or discharge papers if this applies.

Additional documents for applicants under 18

If anyone with a legal right to decide where an applicant under 18 lives is not visiting Australia, they must complete either:

Include a document with the signature and photo of the person who completed the form or declaration, such as a:

  • passport
  • driver’s licence

Also provide a birth certificate showing the names of both parents. If you can’t provide a birth certificate, provide one of the following:

  • identification pages of a family book showing the names of both parents
  • identification pages of an identification document issued by the government
  • identification pages of a court-issued document that proves your identity
  • identification pages of a family census register

Provide:

  • adoption papers or parental court orders, if applicable
  • proof of enrolment at school, college or university

If the applicant is not staying with a relative or legal guardian, provide Form 1257 – Undertaking declaration (211KB PDF). The person they are staying with must sign the formHide 

Additional documents for dependent applicants 18 or older

If you are a dependant aged 18 or older, also provide:

  • proof of your relationship with the person you depend on such as a birth or marriage certificate
  • proof that you have been financially dependent on this person for at least 12 months immediately before you apply, such as:
    • proof that you live with them
    • proof of your current studies or tax records
  • adoption papers or parental court orders, if applicable

Translate

Have all non-English documents translated into English.

Provide original and translated documents in your application.

Translators in Australia must be accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.

Translators outside Australia don’t have to be accredited. But on each translation, they must include their:

  • full name
  • address and telephone number
  • qualifications and experience in the language they are translating

These details must be in English.

Note: You don’t need to have any documents certified.

Scan or photograph

Scan or photograph all documents (English and non-English) in colour.

The scans and photos must be clear and legible.

If a document is more than one page, save it all as one file.

Attach

Attach a document only once, even if you are using it to show more than one thing.
